Encampment

Encampment is a one week, wing-wide activity held usually in June or July at Fort Pickett (a Virginia military base home of the Virginia National Guard and one of the largest military installations on the east coast).  The senior member and cadet staff spend months planning and training to put on this wing level activity.  It will be physically and mentally challenging but is very rewarding to accomplish.  You will make friends with cadets from all over the state and look forward to seeing them at future events.

Encampment challenges cadets and pushes them to grow.  The encampment cadre work to help the basic cadet student answer questions about self-discipline, leadership, and team-work as they participate in awesome, hands-on activities and tours.

Specifically, the goal of encampment is to inspire the student to

•          develop leadership skills,

•          learn about aviation, space, and technology,

•          commit to a habit of regular exercise, and

•          live the Core Values.

As cadets of the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, training will emphasize not only leadership and character, but fitness and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) as you explore career opportunities in those areas and so much more.

Financial Assistance

Help with tuition and uniform expenses is available. Please see the Cadet Encampment Assistance Program page.  CEAP opens on 1 March for Summer Encampments. CEAP closes about 30 days prior to the start of the encampment.

Encampment Curricula

All training materials are available online. The Cadet Encampment Guide provides a framework for encampment operations, defines the curriculum, and sets a single standard for graduates

Completing encampment opens numerous doors to you: from staffing the encampment and furthering your promotions to attending many National Cadet Special Activities (NCSAs) or earning flight scholarships like the Cadet Wings Scholarship.  You will also bring valuable knowledge back to your squadron to help teach other cadets.

See the Virginia Wing webpage about Encampment.  Further information and regular updates can be found on the Virginia Wing Encampment Facebook page.
